Initially, I utilized the Angi's app to see if I could have at least three contractors visit my home to provide me quote to install an EV charger. Sadly, I did not receive any calls from any of the contractors selected in the app. I decided to call one of them directly, the Universal rep was friendly and willing to set up my appointment with one of their dispatch reps. But first, I would have to put down a $150 deposit, which will be deducted off the cost of the job....if I choose them to do the job. I declined to set up the appt, because if I didn't like their quoted price, i don't get back my $150 deposit. Sound more like a crooked way to do business....especially if I'm simply asking for a quote.I called Haines Electric after doing a search for electric contractors in my area. The person I spoke with on the phone was friendly and advised my that Rich would give me a call regarding setting up the appointment for a quote.I received a call from Rich later that day, and I met him two days later without the need of put down a deposit. Rich reviewed the location I wanted the EV charger installed, took measurements, along with checking the capacity of the power panel. We talked about different options to get the electric line from the panel to the charger outside. After our meet ended, Rich said he will call me later in the day with the quote to have the job done. I heard back from Rich, and was satisfied with the quoted cost.On the day of installation, I met the two technicians from Haines Electric. They were both professional and gave off positive vibes. Once the work was done, I was completely blown away with their workmanship. In my mind... I was expecting to see holes in the drywall and an exterior brick wall needed some repair once the job was done. Instead, I have minimal drywall repair.... I can do myself and no brick work repair needed outside. The team duo, cleaned up and left the work area looking as if nothing was ever done. Again, I'm blown away with the workmanship and extremely satisfied with the installation.From this point on, Haines Electric will be my contractor choice for any electrical work needed in my home. I will also recommend them to any of my neighbors that require electrical work in their homes.Thank You Guys!!!Side note....One of my neighbors had his EV charger installed several months back by a different contractor. He was left with exterior brick work, and interior drywall work repairs needed after his installation was done. He did recommend his contractor to me, but I never called, instead I contacted the true professionals at Haines Electric.

I’ve used Haines for multiple jobs in the house - EV charging setup, up leveling safety in the house, landscape lights. For each job, Haines was excellent - they were on time, very professional, the finished job was very well done and the overall after job service has been great. I can’t say the quoted prices are cheap - they were on the higher end of the quotes I received. Having said that, they were/are worth the money. Will definitely use them again.

There are many reasons why this family-owned business has been around for over fifty years: reliability, promptness, quality work for a reasonable fee, and cleanliness.I was particularly impressed by the care taken by the young man I hired to swap out a ceiling light fixture. Haines Electric has done numerous job for me over the years. They upgrading the electrical service to my home, ran all new wiring for a kitchen remodel (ceiling lights, outlets, and under-cabinet lighting) and a finished basement. Last spring Rich and RJ ran the electrical connections and hooked up the equipment for a swim/spa in the yard, and they have serviced my generator since 2015. How do you charge?

Do you have Saturday hours and is there an extra charge for them?

Part of the way we value customer time is by providing Saturday hours (because customers have jobs during the week, too) and by not charging extra for them.

Why is it that my circuit breaker trips sometimes?

The circuit breaker can be tripping for a number of reasons— either it’s overloaded or shorting out. If this is happening often, it should be looked at because it’s a problem that won’t fix itself.

How do I know if my electrical system is safe?

You don’t. Everything in the house might be working perfectly and yet it might be unsafe. That’s why National Fire Protection Association, National Electric Code and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration all recommend having your electrical system checked once a year.

Would a Safety and Savings Plan cover a yearly inspection?

Absolutely. That is one of reasons we recommend the plan to our customers. The Safety and Savings Plan is a way to give you and your family piece of mind that your electrical system is safe and operating properly.

How does surge protection work?

Once the surge protector is in place and connected it will redirect surges to the ground and lessen the energy. The surge protection selected must have a UL rating on response time. A point to remember is that the greater the surge current rating, the longer the surge protector will last.

What is a GFI?

GFI is an abbreviation for ground fault interrupter. There are two kinds of GFIs, a receptacle type and a circuit breaker type. A GFI will monitor the current going through it and if it senses an imbalance it will trip out quickly and prevent the user from getting a shock. A defective appliance or piece of equipment could cause a ground fault. They should be installed in various locations as per the national electrical code. Some areas are as follows: bathrooms, kitchen counter tops, all outdoor areas, pool and hot tub equipment, spas and ponds, garages, and unfinished basements. This is truly a lifesaving device!
